Nainital
Nainital is one of the oldest, most famous, and deeply romantic hill stations in the country.
It is named after the legendary Naini Lake, which sits in the shape of an eye
surrounded by a crown of green mountains. Families love taking peaceful boat rides here, exploring
the vibrant Tibetan Market, and taking the scenic ropeway up to Snow View Point.
(Note: Avoid visiting during the heavy July-August monsoons).
Mussoorie
Located at a height of 2,000 meters with a spectacular backdrop of the Himalayas, Mussoorie is
affectionately known as the "Queen of the Hills." Spread over a horseshoe-shaped ridge, it retains
a heavy colonial charm. Visitors flock to the bustling Mall Road, the cascading
Kempty Falls, and the serene Tibetan settlement of Happy Valley. During winters, the town
frequently experiences magical snowfall.
Corbett National Park
Located at the foothills of the Kumaon Himalayas, Corbett is India's oldest national park
(established in 1936 by conservationist Jim Corbett) and the very first to come under Project
Tiger. Sprawled over 520 sq km, it is globally famous for its thriving population of majestic
Bengal Tigers, wild elephants, and leopards. The best time to spot a tiger
coming out to quench its thirst is during the hot summer months before the park closes for
the monsoon.
Dehradun
Nestled in the Doon Valley, Dehradun is the beautiful capital city of Uttarakhand. Known for its
relaxed lifestyle, pleasant climate, and colonial heritage, it is also a premier educational hub
(home to the famed Doon School). Must-visit spots include the stunning Victorian Clock Tower,
the mystical Robber’s Cave, and the sprawling Forest Research Institute (FRI) campus.
Rishikesh
Set against the backdrop of the Himalayas with the pristine Ganges River flowing right through it,
Rishikesh is globally renowned as the "Yoga Capital of the World." It perfectly balances deep
spirituality with high-octane adventure. Visitors can walk across the iconic Lakshman Jhula,
attend peaceful ashram retreats, or dive into extreme sports like White Water Rafting
and bungee jumping.
Haridwar
Just a short drive down from Rishikesh, Haridwar is one of the seven holiest cities in Hinduism.
Literally translating to "Gateway to God," the city is a mesmerizing kaleidoscope of Indian culture.
Every evening, thousands of pilgrims and tourists gather at the Har Ki Pauri ghat
to witness the breathtakingly beautiful Ganga Aarti, as hundreds of floating diyas light up the river.
